Glade Creek Grist Mill
Another shot of the mill in West Virginia. I first heard of this spot through my parents a few years back. They travel to this place 2 or 3 times a year. After seeing some photos my dad had taken, I knew I had to see this location for myself. Definitely worth the 5 hour drive from Knoxville through the night to the hotel. I got about 4 hours of sleep and woke up at 5:30 a.m. to be at this location before sunrise. I was surprised that I had beat all of the other photographers there, but they were close behind. I started shooting from the creek bed and slowly made my way up around the mill and ended up shooting from this spot. I shot lots of photos of this location from various spots so if anyone is interested in seeing more, they will be uploaded to my SmugMug account momentarily. http://nathanmaysphotography.smugmug.com/Landscapes/Mills/Babcock-Park/14221404_QwAwY#1050583364_jSDrH

Images on this page not looking quite right?
I have been using Firefox as my internet browser exclusivley for years now and had never wondered or even thought about looking at my images using any other browser. Recently I had made one of my photos my background on my PC and wondered why the colors were off. There was very little red, if any, in the photos! I dismissed it as a fluke since the image looked just fine in every other program I viewed it in. Then, while exchanging photos with a friend via Windows Messenger, we both noticed the colors were off while viewing it in the program . But when I would open the photo in Picasa, it looked just fine. I tried Paint and it was off. Google browser? Same thing. Internet Explorer? Just as bad. I did a little research today and I think I have narrowed it down to the photo editing program I use. When I export my images from the program, I have to select the type of file I want it to become and the type of color gamut I want to "develop" it in. I have been using a setting since July that apparently no other browser can "see", and I'm only now discovering it! If you use Firefox, you haven't missed a thing. But if you are using any other browser, view the photos on this page (and my Flickr) and see the difference! From now on my images should look the same on any browser. I just hope I haven't scared anyone away with the "off" images I have been posting....

Hotel Collection
What an incredible sight this was! If you ever get a chance to take the Eiffel Tower tour, do it! The best time to go is just before sunset. Be sure to start going up at least 30 minutes before the sun sets.

Eruption
This is one of the many free shows in Las Vegas. This volcano "erupts" every hour in front of the Mirage. I didn't have a good position the first time (top photo) because of the throngs of people that had beat me there. So I waited until the crowd dissipated from the 10:00 show, found a better position, and waited for the next eruption. I think it was worth the hour wait.
Vegas Pawn Shop
Taken outside the now famous Gold & Silver Pawn shop in Las Vegas. This photo was taken on our second attempt to get in. The first time we went to Gold & Silver, it was lined up all the way down the street so we decided to come back the next day. We must have timed it perfectly because we got to go right in. It was really neat to be on the set of the show and to see a lot of the items featured on Pawn Stars.

Summer's almost gone
Steele Creek Park. I was playing around with Lightroom some this evening. I know it's a little over the top, but I like it. I don't know why it looks so soft once I uploaded it here. It looks better on Flickr... http://www.flickr.com/photos/amaysnphotos/4962546134/

Phoebe
As we were leaving for our evening walk on Monday, this dog was standing on the front porch. She must have been dropped off. Now she needs to gain some weight!

Wilma
I shot this photo of her in April. Sadly, Grandfather Mountain announced today that they put this eagle to sleep. "Wilma wasn't able to fly because of her injury," said Animal Habitat Manager Christie Tipton. "She's in a better place now where she'll always be able to fly."

Balloon Glow
I shot this one across a nearly darkened field, lit only by the glow of distant street lights. You can see just how much light the one balloon puts out in a matter of seconds (1.3). You can barely see the outline of the one which isn't firing his burners.

Freckles and Curls
I've been waiting for a while to post this photo. It was taken at a 35th wedding anniversary party I was shooting and I only knew a few of the attendees. I would have posted this one the day I shot it but I wanted to track down her parents for permission to use it. It took a little time but I found them and thankfully they obliged me so here it is!

Bristol Dragway
I had a blast Friday evening at the Thunder Valley Nationals. I had no idea that there would be fireworks (besides the 8000 HP drag cars) but I was pleasantly surprised. They fired them off at the perfect time of evening too. The panning shot on top was ruined by the photographer on the ladder but not terrible for the first time trying. I wanna be beside the guy in the vest down by the wall next year. If anyone knows how to get me down there, let me know!

Taking a Break
A totally unplanned shot. I was following the bride back to the reception area and just happened to look down.

One out of two isn't so bad
I wish I would have had both rings for this photo. I placed the groom's band in the folds of the bride's dress, so that sorta counts.
Color Clash
The bride's shoes were on the floor of the dressing room and I thought the two contrasting colors and the patterned carpet would make a unique shot.

Website
I just purchased the domain name for my website. Singleton Design is now in the process of putting it all together. Now I just have to wait....
